Everyone dreams of having the sort of bathroom they have always wanted. Whether that is a dark tiled, candle lit bathroom with a roll top bath or a Jacuzzi in a bright, spacious white bathroom getting the right sort of tiles is essential.

When you have decided to lay new floor tiles on your bathroom or kitchen floor there are a few things you need to take into consideration. First things first you need to pick out the sort of tiles you want in the sense of material, pattern and colour. As far as materials go, are wide ranges of choices available from marble, ceramic, slate, glass and porcelain all of which can be used to achieve different looks and effects.

Once you have chosen the type of tiles you want, you then need to ensure that you get colours that compliment the rest of the bathroom wall tiles. This can be tricky so if you have any problems you will be able to find plenty of advice online from interior design television shows. The best thing to do is keep it simple and if you get stuck then ask for assistance.

Before you can lay your new bathroom floor tiles you need to prepare the surface. Most bathrooms will already have floor tiles on the floor so it is important to make sure you remove these properly before hand. This can be done using a long handled floor scraper and its strong metal blade can be levered under each tile and pushed along to break the adhesive bond allowing you to prise up the floor tile.
